Area Of A Triangle

To find the area of a right triangle, you have to use the formula 1/2 bh (base times height)

To find the area of a non-right triangle, you have to use the formula
1/2 (adjacent leg) (adjacent leg) sin of (angle between)

Ex 1: The base of the right triangle is 51 inches long and the height is 63 inches long, find the area.

1) Multiply 51 by 63.
2) You are going to come up with 3,213 inches squared (area is always units squared)

Ex 2: Two sides of a triangle have lengths of 7cm and 4 cm, the angle between the sides measures 73 degrees. Find the area of the triangle.

1) Use the formula above
2) Plug in your givens into the formula
A= 1/2 (4)(7) Sin 73 degrees
3) Your final answer is going to be 13.4 cm squared.
